Ninety artists applied and 50 artists have been selected to participate, along with 10 alternates. Our 3 Selection Jurors were Massachusetts artist John MacDonald (our 2016 Awards Juror), Saratoga, NY artist Anne Diggory (a former Awards Juror), and Delaware artist Sarah Yeoman.

We are happy to announce there are  additional opportunities for you to come paint the beautiful Adirondack Mountains.

And two, new Plein Air workshops! Aline Ordman, Aug 13-14, 2017 and Sarah Yeoman, Sept 2-3, 2017.

For all those who would like to "bring home a piece of the Adirondacks", the gala Show & Sale for the Adirondack Plein Air Festival will be Saturday Aug 19, from noon to 5 pm, in the Town Hall, 39 Main St., Saranac Lake, NY. A Special Preview Party and Awards presentation will be Friday Aug 18, from 6 - 9 pm. Tickets are $20 and may be purchased at the door or online HERE (link will be added later).

2017 Awards Juror & Workshop Presenter: Aline E. Ordman

aline ordmanWe are proud to announce Vermont artist Aline E. Ordman as our 2017 Juror of Awards.

Aline received her BFA at Cornell University, and continued her training at the Academy of Art College in San Francisco, earning a degree in Illustration.

Aline is a Master Pastelist with the Pastel Society of America and a Signature Member of the American Impressionist Society (for her oil paintings) and a Master Circle Pastelist with the International Association of Pastel Societies. She was been featured in The Pastel Journal, has been honored with awards at the 33rd, 34th  and 38th Annual Juried Shows of the Pastel Society of America in New York City  and juried the 2014 Pastel Society of America’s National Juried Show.  In 2016 she was a Faculty Pastel Demonstrator for the National Plein Air Convention and in 2017 will do a Pastel presentation at the National Plein Air Convention. 

Her work has been accepted in  national juried shows of the American Impressionist Society, The Pastel Society of America  and the Oil Painters of America.

George Van Hook - 1st Place in 2016!

                                      hookThe 2016 Adirondack Plein Air Festival is over and was a great success, in spite of the moody grey skies and rain on the opening days. Sixty-four artists took part in the 5 day event, and a new record of over $31,000 in sales was set in what was the 8th year of the Festival.

George Van Hook, of Cambridge, NY, was given the 1st place prize by Awards Juror John MacDonald, of Massachusetts. George recieved $1000 cash from Saranac Lake ArtWorks, a featured artist ad donated by Eric Rhoads and Plein Air Magazine; assorted panels donated by Ampersand Gessoboards; and other merchandise totaling over $2000 in value. Alison Menke, of Clarksville, MD, walked away with the 2nd place award, $450 cash donated by Guideboat Realty, and Geomatics Land Surveying and merchandise, plus she received the 1st Place Quick Draw Award, valued at over $200, as selected by juror Frances Gaffney.
