Guest: Jeremy Evans attending - invited by Todd. Interested in working with ArtWorks on behalf of the Village. Interested in our marketing efforts. Currently has applied for a Main St. Program grant from National Historic Trust - investing, reinvesting, marketing and promotion of traditional Main St; interested in pooling resources. Provided 2 links that might be useful to ArtWorks:

NYC guide to BIDs.

Much discussion about the positive economic impact of the arts; importance of standing together and providing a unified voice (example: ArtWorks was requested to provide a statement fo support for the Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan); extending invitations to Village and Town Board members (instead of just expecting them to attend art events); when sending materials to board always send to Kareen Tyler, Village Clerk; discussed need for an events coordinator/PR person; we all need to work together.

Officers & Membership: Mark is willing to stay on as President/Chair for one more year; we would like to establish "teams" or committees that would accept responsibility for specific tasks - not that they have to do all the work themselves, but would be willing to take the lead and ask others to help when the work needs to be done.
  • Advertising (plan advertising budget; coordinate design of ads; make more use of social media)
  • Exhibits - now, specifically Art Under $100 Show & Sale - Vicki Celeste and Cris Winters will work on this and will request help; Pendragon will host; 25% commission; hang by Nov 29, opening reception Sun. Dec 4 - 4 - 7? (after matinee performance-to evening performance)
  • Plein Air Festival - Sandy Hildreth and Susan Olsen
  • Studio Tour - Matt Paul, Diane Liefheit? Anyone else?
  • Social - planning our social get togethers - artist talks, demonstrations, etc.
  • By-Laws - someone to come up with some general by-laws for us as an organization (previous volunteers: Todd Smith, Tim Fortune, and Susan Olsen)
Membership dues for 2012 - will keep the same as 2011 and plan advertising budget based on due collected.
  • Professional membership = $50
  • Advertising fee (for professional members) = $100, will become $125 if not paid by 1/15/12
  • Supporting membership = $25
  • When a Gallery/Organization joins (i.e. Artists' Guild, Bluseed, NorthWind) at the professional level, any of their members can join at a $25 membership fee plus $100 advertising fee (saving $25 off the individual price).
2011 Studio Tour - finally have some stats to report, in general supporting the consensus that attendance/sales were down.
  • 2010 - 30/40 artists reporting, 1581 visits, $8500 sales
  • 2011 - 26/36 artists reporting, 1307 visits, $4326 sales
New Business

ArtWorks Info Form - Todd suggested a card/brochure that identified ArtWorks - who we are, what we have accomplished, to have available at things like the Art Under $100 Show - he offered to work on it.

Economic Impact of the Arts Survery - Cris brought it up and is going to look into it more - people don't realize how much an impact the arts can have.

Next Meeting: Tuesday Dec 13, 7 pm -  Artists Guild
