Notes from Meetings - July 10, 2012  7 pm, Art Annex porch

Financial Report - money in the bank; bills to pay; have spent around $2700 on ads & $1200 on brochure almost all of advertising budget.

New Chamber Web Site - - $100 for photo listing; $25/mo for featured listing -most seem in favor - need to check budget for year; could do a photo collage with samples of member work - waiting to see how much money is left

Increase in hits/visits in May, June, July

Any new members now at 1/2 price, put on web site, not included in advertising.

Arts Council: closing officially at the end of August, will resurface as ArtsNorth a promotional organization. Directory? Our ad - $235?

Insurance - find out more about coverage; Chamber can provide a certificate of insurance for events in town. Burdette will talk to Ayers and ? about insurance.

Identity: a type A Association, non-profit with the state, exempt from sales tax has been recommended by attorney Amy Smith.. First step is by-laws in order to create an association. Then we can apply. Then we can get insurance. Tim, Susan, ?

Arts & Heritage Festival:  seemed to bring an increase of people in the Village; people who came specifically for it; Hohmeyer’s felt an increase, Guild had more people coming in

Maybe a fall event; Octoberfest?; art displays in the TownHall? Commission on sales rather than pay a booth fee. Talk to Jeremy. Maybe during ArtWalks too? Empty storefronts? Tents in the park. Mark will talk to Jeremy. Downtown Juried Show in store windows? People’s choice award.

Plein Air Festival
Registrations coming in 17 so far (plus 2 more)
Volunteers Needed:
  • Put up posters
  • Greeter at the VIC on 8/17
  • Help setting up display easels - 8 am 8/19 - Matt B
  • Kitchen? Youth Center? Donna Dora, Rotary? - someone said they would contact these people - Beth was going to contact Youth Center. Maybe Humane Society - Susan contact Melinda?
  • Someone to handle sales during the Show & Sale at the Town Hall on Sunday 8/19
  • Help taking down easels - 4 pm 8/19
Studio Tour - brochure is ready to proof; close to 80 participants; put ST facebook page on web site.

July ArtWalk - The Moth at the Town Hall @ 7:30 after the ArtWalk.

Brochures - keep putting them out.
Next year: combine member brochure/Studio Tour/Arts in the Park? Burdette volunteered to help. Larry - Bluseed has a Graphic Designer - who might be interested.

John - Lake Placid Holiday Stroll - art display at Convention Center? Brochures printed but would do web, radio, other media PR; lots of events going on - lots of people attend. Gary Smith and North Woods Inn very supportive. Query ArtWorks members about interest? Offer something for kids? Could be be structured so that artists can independently hang their work, coordinate someone to be on duty and handle sales? (Rather than a committee/individual doing all the work).

SL Holiday Sales - each gallery does their own - promote with a rack card - plan in Sept/Oct.
