  • Artisans in the Park (ADE), ads - deadline May 1 - anyone wishing to take out a small ad will get included on a village map of art galleries, studios and related businesses. A walking tour map. Perhaps also those outside of village in margin areas; 10,000 copies printed and distributed throughout the Park; contact Susan Moore advertising@adirondackdailyenterprise.com
  • Train - Art Day in Saranac Lake, Gail - suggested ArtWorks sponsor this - she is working with Pete Snyder at the railroad for a "Taste of the Adirondacks", Aug 27. Train will bring passengrs to SL and not return for several hours. Also doing a wine train on Saturday evenings. It was suggested there could be "greeters" or guides available at the train depot - or some kind of transportation to help people get past Stewart's and come downtown. Cris wondered if businesses could subsidize taxi service; what about the Franklin Co. bus?; coupons/specials available; Sandy also contacted Pete and he said he could not do a later train on the ArtWalk nights but we can put posters on the train with info about our events.schedule events
  • Daffest April 29 - May 1 - it's on the LakePlacid.com web site - so it might actually attract people - galleries and studios are encouraged to be open. Sandy is inviting plein air artists to come out and paint in the village.
  • Studio Tour registrations - deadline May 1
  • Officers/By-Laws & Executive Committee
    • Over 30 members now; officers have plenty of things to work on; executive committee will make it easier to handle some decisions (chair, vice-chair, treasurer, secretary, membership, + 2 members - Matt P., has volunteered ); Tim - come up with job descriptions - people could volunteer for certain jobs. Todd - volunteer positions could be just a yearly position. Susan & Todd & Tim volunteered to figure something out.
  • Question raised: could ArtWorks have a host not-for-profit organization in order to take advantage of n-f-p opportunities (like being able to put brochures in Lake Placid Visitors Bureau?)
  • Membership - questions came up regarding professional vs. supporting members - it was decided to put a brief statement on the web site defining "professional" to help potential new members decide.
  • ArtWorks rack cards - distribute; take some; Cat volunteered to distribute them
  • Advertising $1800+ for Visitors Guide? Look into that;  $2200 left
  • Potsdam store with maple products; contacted Mark about having some artwork related to maple on display - if interested, contact Mark
  • Events, . 6/26 - 7/4 - Adirondack Arts & Heritage Festival - any and all art events will be included in the schedule/
  • Cris - is there a way to get our ArtWorks cards over in LP for the Horse Shows - Cris volunteered to look into it (contact ROOST)
  • Events on the Lake Placid web site - major events have been posted to their online calendar - check with Athena at ROOST if they don't show up.
  • Farmers Market schedule - Matt - most dates have been selected so ArtWorks can proceed and sign up for a tent; one or 2 ArtWorks members every Saturday;  volunteers can display/sell their own art plus have ArtWorks rack cards and other PR to give out; art vending machine once a month - Matt will deliver. Will probably increase fee to $2; operator will collect money and provide a special set of quarters.
    • Tent - need a couple of people to put it up; start at 8 - take down after 2. Whoever volunteers should make arrangements for their own help.
    • Matt will send out emails; invest in a banner; Todd has plastic tub to donate for putting ArtWorks materials in it; Matt B. Mark, Meg - have tents - materials should be at Borealis Color. Susan also volunteered her sons to help. Matt P - get free business cards for boxes? Todd - will look into having some printed on boxes.
    • Art vending machine - Need to generate art work that will fit in box by May - REMINDER; Susan has materials and will offer to collect works. All volunteer art but can invite others. Once Matt and Todd cover their expenses (boxes, transportation); ArtWorks can get the proceeds; ArtWorks logo on boxes?
  • Plein Air preview exhibit @ Pendragon - week of Aug 15
  • HELP NEEDED for Studio Tour & Plein Air Festival - put on calendars and volunteer! Contact Sandy or Susan.
    • Registration on Thurs. Aug 18
    • Set up Silent Auction Thurs. Aug
    • Set up in Town Hall Sunday Aug 21, 9 am;
  • Art at VIC - June 8 meeting, 7 pm, at VIC, with Brian McDonnell - if interested in exhibiting or doing classes, workshops, or presentations, please attend.
  • ArtWorks evening social event in April? - Susan is working on it. Cris Winters, Wed. May 4 demo, Art Annex; BYOB, 6 pm
  • Outdoor art exhibit for Winter Carnival - transparencies frozen in ice; Matt’s snow balls; snow sculptures from forms; Mark - Winter Carnival committee would be very receptive of it; Matt B - financial support would be helpful. ArtWorks could seek funding to support an arts project. Mark
  • - Upcoming exhibits: Cris Winters & Lee Ann Sporn at the St. Regis Cafe, Paul Smiths College, Wed. 4/13, 4:30 - 7;  The Fringe is hosting an 8x10" exhibit - work due May 1 - 5, opening May 6
